Some of my thoughts and experiences.
In my Jiwhiz Blog Application, I added a feature of logging visit count for any blog post page. Recently my friend 王昊 introduced Google Analytics to me. Yesterday I created an account at Google Analytics for my jiwhiz.com website.
After register my website to Google Analytics, I got a tracking code, and a piece of
template html files, such as
src/main/webapp/WEB-INF/templates/privateLayout.html, I'm done.
I feel so good that I have the fully control of my Web application.
After one day, I can see the traffic log for my website in Google Analytics dashboard page.
The UI is very impressive, with loads of features.
Anyway, I abandon the idea of building my own visit recorder and analytical tool. Too much work. Since Google Analytics is free and feature rich, why not use it? I can get an excellent report of my website visit without coding anything. So I can spend time on other interesting tasks.
